C.Y.A.A. FAQ

What is baseball/softball picnic?

The baseball/softball picnic is a one day event at the North Catty Playground for the players, coaches and their families. Teams are asked to bring certain picnic items or food items. Hotdogs, hamburgers and soda are supplied by C.Y.A.A..  Children are free to play all day at the playground, basketball court & baseball fields.

What is done on picture day?

On picture day individual and team photos are taken. Each coach will be assigned a time. You need to have your team dressed in their complete uniform. It is very important for the teams to be on time.

Each coach must hand out picture purchase forms. Please have your parents fill them out before they arrive. The better organized your team is the faster the process will go.

What is uniform pickup/return?

Coaches will be assigned a date and time to pick up uniforms from the C.Y.A.A. clubhouse. Coaches need to have your team ready to enter the clubhouse and try on uniforms. Each player is given a uniform and is responsible for returning it laundered at the end of the season. Dates will be assigned for returns.

Again please have your team ready and organized.

What is Field Work Days?

Field work is the responsibility of a parent or guardian. When you sign your child up you agree to give C.Y.A.A. $50.00 cash/check. The $50.00 cash or undeposited check will be returned to you at the end of the season provided that you complete 3 hours of field time and you must also return a laundered uniform.

Field times are prescheduled days at Opportunity Field in which parents or guardians need to help C.Y.A.A. get the fields into playable condition after a long winter.

There will be a sign in sheet that must be filled out each day in order to receive credit for doing your field duties. (Please print clearly).
Note: Do not confuse 3 hours of field time with your snack stand duties.

If you have more than one child in your immediate family signing with C.Y.A.A. for baseball the 3 hours will be per family not the individual child. Each child should be listed on the sign in sheet.

What are my snack stand responsibilities?

Each team will be responsible for running the snack stand for a couple of times through the baseball season. The shift runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Four parents/adults are required in the stand at all times. You may have four people work 3 hours or eight people work 1 ½ hour shifts, as long as there is four at all times.

If you cannot supply your required four your game will be stopped. If it is your assigned night you must supply help even if your game is cancelled.

No one under the age of fourteen is allowed in stand.

Someone with experience will be on hand to help you set up, show you what needs to be done and answer questions.

What is Fun Day?

Fun day is a celebration of the opening of baseball season.  C.Y.A.A.  has free games and play climbers for all ages set up on the main fields across from the field house. Coaches needs to have their team dressed in their uniforms ready to walk in a short parade on the field, so some pictures can be taken. After a short ceremony the kids are free to have fun.  It is highly recommended that the kids change out of their uniforms before playing.

The coaches or a team representative will each run one of  the games for a certain amount of time.

It is also greatly appreciated if coaches help with set up or cleanup.

When do I return the lottery money?

Your lottery money must be returned to CYAA on your scheduled pick up day for your team uniform.  (Approximate date is mid April).  If your lottery money is not returned you will not be issued a uniform.

Do I need a birth certificate?

Any first year child needs to supply CYAA with a copy of their birth certificate.  Most first year players will be at T-ball level. Coaches please get these certificates in after the first or second practice.  We must forward them to the league offices before any games can be played.

If we don’t get them in by the start of the season CYAA will be fined by the league per child.
